Juvenile arrested on domestic violence charges

A 13-year-old boy is facing serious domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his mother in their Liberty Lake, Washington, home last week. According to a police report filed by the Liberty Lake Police Department, this is not the teenager's first run-in with an assault charge.

Liberty Lake police were called to the home shortly after 5:00 p.m. on New Year's day after reports of an argument and assault taking place inside. According to the caller, an argument ensued between the mother and her son, which resulted in the boy slamming his mother into a wall and proceeding to hit her.

Officers claim they were able to hear shouting coming from the apartment upon arriving outside. The boy ran from police once they entered the apartment and locked himself in a room for an undisclosed amount of time. Eventually, the boy agreed to unlock the door for the officers and was handcuffed immediately.

Police found that the 13-year-old boy was on probation for domestic violence assault at the time, and through investigation they were able to discern that he had assaulted his mother. He was booked into the juvenile detention center, a place he may be spending a lot more time in the near future pending the results of this incident.

While this situation is unique because of the nature of their relationship, if the boy's mother chooses to press charges he could be held in a juvenile detention center for a long time. In situations like this, both parties involved may want to look into speaking with an experienced attorney.
