A man was arrested last week after police say he led them on a high-speed chase. In addition to the alleged incident last week, the man is also accused of eluding police in another chase that occurred in June 2011. He was sentenced to three months in jail for that crime.
In this incident, police say the man stole a vehicle and was in possession of meth before a PIT maneuver was performed by police, ending the chase. These charges are very serious and it might be wise for someone in a similar situation to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. Given the man has a history of a similar crime he might be looked on more critically by the court.
Any crime can reflect badly on a person's reputation, but given the public nature in which this incident allegedly happened and the potential threat it may have caused to public safety or the authorities involved, it might be wise to form a rigorous criminal defense. An attorney can help a person understand their rights and make sure they are treated fairly in court no matter their criminal history.
It's unclear how much time the man could face in jail, but it would likely be a lengthy sentence if it is comparable to his previous sentence. This could further harm the man's reputation and make it very difficult to find employment in the future.
